Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 3rd IJN Heart Failure Conference 2027, continuing our biennial commitment to advancing heart failure care through education, collaboration and shared expertise.

Heart failure is no longer managed by a single specialty or a single treatment pathway. It is a complex clinical syndrome that brings together every subspecialty within contemporary cardiology. To achieve the best outcomes, we must look beyond the failing heart and consider the entire patient, the underlying disease, associated comorbidities and the full range of therapies available throughout the course of heart failure.

This philosophy is reflected in our 2027 theme:

“Beyond the Failing Heart - Every Stage. Every Therapy. Every Heartbeat.”

The conference will showcase the complete spectrum of heart failure care beginning with prevention, lifestyle modification, cardiovascular risk reduction and cardiometabolic health, followed by early diagnosis, multimodality imaging and precision phenotyping, contemporary medical therapy and optimisation of guideline directed treatment.

Importantly, heart failure care extends across all areas of cardiology. Cardiac imaging provides the foundation for accurate diagnosis, assessment of aetiology and treatment selection. Interventional cardiology addresses coronary artery disease and the role of complex and high risk revascularisation. Electrophysiology brings rhythm management, ICD, CRT and other device based therapies. Structural heart intervention is increasingly transforming the management of valvular heart disease contributing to heart failure. Cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, cardio oncology, sports cardiology, preventive and cardiometabolic cardiology all contribute to identifying and treating specific causes, phenotypes and associated conditions.

For patients who continue to deteriorate despite optimal therapy, the journey progresses to advanced heart failure care including haemodynamic assessment, temporary mechanical circulatory support, LVAD and heart transplantation.

At Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), we are privileged to bring these disciplines together and provide the full continuum of heart failure care - from prevention and lifestyle intervention to medical therapy, devices, coronary and structural interventions, advanced heart failure therapies, LVAD and heart transplantation.

The IJN Heart Failure Conference 2027 therefore represents more than a conference dedicated to one subspecialty. It is a meeting that connects the entire spectrum of cardiovascular expertise around the heart failure patient.

Through our distinguished local and international faculty, we will explore new evidence, evolving guidelines, emerging technologies and, importantly, how these advances can be translated into everyday clinical practice. We aim to encourage greater collaboration between subspecialties and across the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that the right patient receives the right treatment at the right stage of their disease.
